A special thank you from Rev. Jen Dear Sheriff VanBlarcum, Sergeant Vincent Decker, and the Inmates, who helped us, It is this with gratitude that I write to you. We, at Flatbush Reformed Church, are so thankful for the work of Sergeant Vincent Decker and the work program that he presides over. We are a small 200 year old economically challenged Reformed church. Although small in numbers we are big and spirit and offer many ministry services to the community. This last year has been spent stabilizing our physical plant and we spent 5 weeks this summer scraping, sanding, and painting the eves of our Sanctuary, the steeple, and one of our out buildings. We did this work with the help of our denomination, our own congregation, and volunteers. Although we did a great deal of necessary work we never made it to the inside of the church. Then Vinnie and the inmates arrived. Thank you for allowing the funding to be used for Vinnie to go out and serve the community in the way he does. It benefits the community, the congregations of those served, as well as the inmates. Vinnie is a good man who supervises the men with respect and dignity. He is very dedicated, thorough, and reliable. We are so grateful for his work and presence at our church! The inmates did a great job scraping, spackling and painting. Our sanctuary looks amazing! I have had several members of the congregation who have said in all of their years they have never seen it look so nice! A special thank you to Willis, and Ethan who were with us for the entire three weeks, to Jeremy who was with us for two weeks, and to Thomas who was with us for one week. We are grateful for their work and hope that we have contributed to their well being in some way. With gratitude, Rev. Jennifer Bendelius |
